Unearthed, an exotics worker who makes accessories for sale on Etsy.com, seriously amazes me. She often uses these exotic skins, like lizard, for wrist cuffs and bags. And she’s a reasonable artist, too. I’m talkin’ a python purse would run in the mere low hundreds, NOT $10,000!!!
The bag I’m featuring tonight has rich brown leather trim, fun studs; all surrounding a funky, textured wool body. The bag is slightly reminiscent of COACH, but would compare to their $700~ish bags. The pricetag of this purse? $345, but it’s honest pricing folks! The designer chose the finest of leather and you can clearly tell the purse it well put-together.
Chloé Debbie bags‘ main feature is a large zipper, much like the Bay, but the actual zipper pull closely resembles that from the Edith (last year’s IT bag). An equally large feature, yet less prominently unique, is its clip flap closure. (That’s also similar to the Edith’s buckle flap closure.) The bags all also boast a contrast-colored stripe on the flaps.
Styles on Neiman Marcus .com consist of (1) a shoulder flap satchel with double front zipper pockets, (2) an east/west shoulder tote sans pockets and (3) a divine looking north south hobo with double front pockets (best of them ALL in cream).
Colors are brown, tan, cream and yellow. Prices from $1,120 to $1,130; not bad.
A new great style from Marc Jacobs is this Deborah Bag, a shoulder tote with zipper details. Selling now in white, the bag also features a signature push lock (onthe zipped attachment closing the large front pocket) and classic square strap buckles, in addition to the double zipper feature toward the top of the bag.
The Deborah measures 15″ x 10″ x 2.5″ and costs $975.
I’m hoping this purse at some point, or in another store, is released in other colours. Yes, white is trendy and attractive, but practical alternatives need to be offered. I like this bag, and it has a little bit of everything Marc (aside from quilting, a chain strap, or anything Stam-y) but I don’t desire it nor see IT in it. Still it’s a very pretty purse, with a great price especially for its size and amount of style. If this is your dream bag, grab her!
Zac Posen, a hot and popular ready-to-wear designer with celebrities and in-the-knows, has now put out a line of handbags. The bags are on the simple and sophisticated side and quite well designed.
My favorite is this Aurora bag, a tall satchel with kiss-lock closed straps over its framed closure. In creme at 12″ x 9″ x 6″, it costs $1,400. What a way to make an entrance!
Nothing new and interesting has been coming from Fendi lately, but one bag of note is the Canvas Palazzo Print Tote, featuring a signature-included asymmetrical photo print and chain-printed straps on a roomy—nay, a huge 20″ x 15″—tote shape, for only $650. And the design actually means something; “Palazzo print pays homage to the neo-classical architecture of Fendi’s Palazzo flagship store.”
We saw the runway shots, but MarcJacobs.com has Spring 2007’s collections already up! Great, clear photos of his upcoming bags! Unfortunately the website only offers one color for each style, but there are plenty more than were in the fashion show!
First we see the new quilting, colors, and a brand new style for old classics—like the Venetia (1st) and Multipocket (2nd) bags. The front pockets are now signature zippered pockets! Interesting.
I really love that Venetia, but by far my favorite bag of the whole collection is the brand new Bowler, which features four front gathered pockets, gathered-leather handles and a push-lock (to nowhere), plus a detachable long chain strap. It’s gorgeous. (And I just want to eat it.)
I’m still looking back a couple seasons to that blue quilted leather Blake, though. Come to eBay … oh why me!
This “Marrakech” bag by BCBGirls is so funky, with a middle-Eastern ethnic feel. Its crochet strip pattern reminds me so much of python that I just have to give it a mention, and the fact that it’s on sale at Bluefly.com nearly 50% off ensures that I couldn’t wait another day to post.
So many details make this bag unique and special: gold woven canvas, wooden beads on the straps. At 16 1/2″ by 8″, the Marrakech is selling out with a $60.35 pricetag.

St. Luca Linen Sangria Handbag—doesn’t that just sound like a purse destined to accompany you on an exotic vacation?!? Italian waxed linen, leather trim and seashell and wood bead-embellished handles—just a few of the worth-mentioning details about this handbag, which sells for $278.95. Measuring 15.5″ l x 8″ h x 3.5″ d, it’s available in cream or a very cute denim blue. Both are lined with colorful island-themed printed fabrics. Definitely a purse to keep in mind for the upcoming summer months!
You know what I love about this Leather Shopper by Hogan? I love its clean and crisp feel. There’s no fancy frills or elaborate embellishments—just a creamy leather tote with a pop of blue trim, along with the perfect silhouette. What I don’t love is the price—$895. Regardless, this is one of those purses that reminds me that sometimes a moment of simplicity is just what we need, especially in the hustle and bustle activity of life.
