These galleries are a courtesy to those of you who just want to check out the bags from the shows, whether you want to post about them on your blog or just peruse. I thank you for credting both bagdreamblog.com and the original sources.
Bag Dream is now, as a resource, showcasing (hopefully-all)-and-only-handbag photos in pure galleries from the Fashion Weeks. Reviews of particuliar styles will come later. If you use photos from these pages, please credit us (http://bagdreamblog.com) and our original source. Thanks and you’re welcome!
FYI, posting’s been delayed while I worked on coding, including setting up displaying pictures in a new way. Upkeep like this is necessary as blogging scripts turn to new versions, old html is deprecated for new standards, etc. That should be about done, so there will be lots more actual entries coming all week!
Just wanted to introduce you to Style.com’s Candy Pratts Price’s fave accessories from the Fall shows, and their new pictures, descriptions and — ah! — official names.
Ah, the benefit of being an insider journalist. Well, at least we get their info when they give it.
By the way, so far, I’m noticing at least one of the same handbags. (I’ve hardly begun looking, thanks to life and its foibles getting in the way.) It’s a Dolce & Gabbana silver number.
Apparently, it’s fur and feather PRINTED with a crocodile leather edge. And called — “Miss Edge”. Ah, a new thing, eh? fur print! Brava to the D and the G for something new!
Very detailed, yet less overdone and more sophisticated (even mature) for Dolce & Gabbana are their upcoming Fall 2008 bags. Seen on the recent runway:
Pictured here is an actual handbag for sale by designer, Marni. It’s huge, it’s design-less, it’s shape-less, it’s detail-less. Oh but it has a pricetag! $1230 for a sack of leather is fabbingMy F-ing word ridiculous. I would expect to see this at Target for $49. And only that much for the size and being genuine leather. And I would never expect something that looks like this to be actual leather. Or even a handbag, because this obviously is the closest thing we’ve seen lately (or EVER) to a bag just being a container for old food you don’t even want to give the dog. The ginormous size helps this image. There is nothing about this “bag” that warrants a price nearly like that, not even the Marni name (no one buys for the Marni name). I hope the brand sells 0 of this unit and they learn the hard way that the designers need to wake up in the morning and actually work at what they do, not just nap all day and be so proud of themselves that they’ve almost learned how to sketch a circle (it was a pretty shaky ellipse, the sketches of this style). Seriously, the one lone detail of the hanging plain fob just makes a bigger mockery of this whole charlatan of a purse. F for Effort for Marni on this one. You’d better do make-up work over the Summer, and when I see you again in the fall, try to be most improved.
More pictures of Spring 2007 Runway shots of Marni fashion and fuglyfabulously ugly bags.
I absolutely adore this Kelly-styled shearling-lined leather muff that IMHO stole the show at Hermes. The thing is I’m not sure if it’s actually a bag! It doesn’t appear to be able to fit much in it besides hands. It is definitely styled after the classic Kelly bag, though, so if it’s not a bag, I say it’s just as good—or better? One thing’s certain, this is the most stylin’ muff ever!
It’s hard to find pictures of purses at Luella’s Fall 2007 runway show, but I found one of my favorite via In My Bag. This bag in the family of Giselle, except with side belts instead of multiple full-width ones, is a new classic and one I’m really interested in. I can’t wait for it to come out for the Fall (boo hoo), in a more affordable leather, of course, and then to hopefully go on sale. Of course, if my prediction is right, this bag will have IT status - or at least it should.
It’s a bag with classy style for anyone in a tote shape with flap, lizard skin as on the runway, and what seem like two large tassels on front. Quite yummy.
Footnote: What is that which appears on this model’s feet???
I suppose all Marc Jacobs’ bags that we love, he thinks we’ve seen too much of. For Fall 2007, he’s showing us all new styles, well only 2 of them. One is an old-fashioned (imho) flap shoulder bag with luxe skins, the other is actually a really cool oversized clutch (also with skins [ostrich pictured], also with flap).
The first is so blah - Marcy, don’t expect that to go IT. Public/mag eds, don’t let that go IT!
But that clutch is pretty neat. I imagine it’s perfect to hold papers in the business world, and will be tucked inside a Birkin business bag! Ah, the dream.
A handbag though? Well, I think it’d be too clumsy to carry around. Not the dream.
